The senior cycle in Clonkeen College is a two year programme. Students will complete senior cycle in their 5th and 6th years of post-primary education. Transition year is the 4th year in Clonkeen and is mandatory. Students wishing to move directly from junior to senior cycle must apply to the board of management to do so.
A range of subjects are offered in Clonkeen at senior cycle level. Some subjects are elective and are chosen at the end of 4th year to be studied for the duration of the two years.

A year head is responsible for the academic and social development of the students in the first three years. Each year head works closely with class (form) tutors. These tutors are a point of contact for the students in each class group (around 24 students) and monitor aspects of their school life such as academic progress, behaviour, involvement in extra curricular activities and engagement in our pastoral care programme. The class tutor will get to know each student well and is the primary contact of the school with parents. The tutor is also responsible for delivering the SPHE curriculum.
